| Vineyard Notes: | Russian Hills Estate Vineyards provide a rich source of Pinot noir from various soil types and clones. Tara Vineyard, located adjacent to our winery on an easterly facing slope, is planted to Dijon clone 115. The soil is alluvial clay with a dark charcoal hue. Sunny View, planted to Pommard and Dijon clones 667 and 777, is located to our southeast in the Santa Rosa Plain region of the Russian River Valley. The soil there is a combination of clay and sand and the climate is foggier and somewhat cooler than at Tara Vineyard. The vines at both vineyards have slowly been brought to maturity, with harvests to date at two tons to the acre or less. Irrigation is minimized to ensure concentration of flavors and aim for eventual dry farming. |
