Sunny View Vineyard
Six miles to the south of our winery is Sunny View Vineyard. Planted in 1999, this is the site of much of our Pinot noir production and forms the basis of our Estate Vineyards Pinot noir. The site also has five acres of Viognier which we sell to several prestigious wineries for their production.
The are three Pinot noir parcels at Sunny View, each planted to a different clone – Pommard, Dijon 667 and Dijon 777. The soil type is clay with interspersed layers of sand. Located in the southeastern portion of the Russian River Valley, this area is unusually cool due to the approaching summer fog from the Petaluma Gap. As a low lying area, the springs are also very cool and thereby typically result in a low fruit set. Pinot noir sourced from our Sunny View vineyard has yet to reach a yield of two tons to the acre and in some years was considerably less than one ton to the acre.
