Windsor Oaks Summit
Located in the northeastern portion of the Russian River Valley, Windsor Oaks Vineyard is a large property with scattered sites chosen for select plantings. At the highest point of Windsor Oaks, a syrah vineyard was planted in 1997 expressly for Russian Hill. We have named this special location, with its stunning 360 degree views, Windsor Oaks Summit.
The growing conditions at the Windsor Oaks Summit are lean with shallow volcanic soils and sparse water supplies. The sunshine, however, is intense, as the vineyard sits well above the fog line on a plateau that provides full sun exposure. This combination of lean growing conditions and excellent sunlight exposure produces grapes with skins that are more blue than purple in color. This “mountain grown” wine is a unique Syrah with intense color, firm structure and great age worthiness. We typically bottle age our Windsor Oaks Summit Syrah for two years before release.
